A former army captain, Michel Julio Effa Effa was arrested today Monday July 18 for his alleged involvement in a theft and torture case.
He was arrested in the Aka’a Esse village, a few kilometers from Sangmelima in the South Region of Cameroon.
According to reports, it all began following a violent attack on Jean Sylvain Mvondo, public investments program director at the Ministry of Economy.
He was attacked on the night of June 14 to 15 after which he was evacuated abroad for health care.
On June 26, some weeks after the attack, one of the suspects of the attack was captured by the forces of law and order. Subsequent investigations later led to the arrest of Michel Julio, now pastor at the Église Jean Baptiste du Cameroun, EJBC.
He was reportedly apprehended in possession of 25 guns which were said to have been carefully concealed in his church.
Three other suspects were equally arrested in relation to Jean Sylvain Mvondo’s recent attack.
