Cameroonian football legend Landry Nguemo has tragically passed away at the age of 38 following a car accident along the Obala road, on the way to Yaoundé. The news has sent shockwaves through the Cameroonian football community and beyond.
Born on November 28, 1985, in Yaoundé, Nguemo began his professional career with the local club, Canon Yaoundé, before moving to Europe, where he had a notable career.
Nguemo, a defensive midfielder, was a key player for the Indomitable Lions during his international career, making 42 appearances and scoring three goals. He represented his country at two FIFA World Cups, in 2010 and 2014, and was also part of the team that won the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
At club level, Nguemo played for Nancy, Bordeaux, Saint-Étienne, and Celtic during his career. He was known for his tenacity, work ethic, and ability to break up play in midfield.
Nguemo’s death has been met with an outpouring of grief from fans, teammates, and former coaches. Many have paid tribute to his talent, dedication, and positive personality.
