“Frail, tired and depressed” Barrister Shufai Blaise Returned to Jail

The last days have seen a lot of controversy over government’s handling of sick Ambazonian leader, Barrister Shufai Blaise.

From being administered medication without diagnosis at the prison health center to chaining his two hands to a hospital bed, his lawyers say the treatment he received has not been the best.

Yesterday May 21st, Barrister Shufai Blaise was released from the Yaoundé military hospital and returned to the Kondengui prison where he and other separatist leaders are serving their jail terms, a move his lawyers condemn.

“The superintendent Mr AP Isidore Angoule had mounted pressure throughout the day for him to be discharged when the clinical tests results brought by family members from the laboratories were still in sealed envelopes pending analysis by the hospital officials” the lawyers have said.

It was a poor sight to see their client leave the hospital in poor shape. “He left the hospital very frail, tired and depressed, accompanied by heavily armed escort of ten mixed military and prison guards under the heavy rains of last evening” the defense team narrates.

The lawyers of Sisiku Ayuk Tabe and other Anglophone detainees have always decried the conditions under which they are held, noting that it could be harmful to their health.
