Separatist fighters in Abuh village, Fundong subdivision in the North West of Cameroon have fled their camps with hostages.

The fighters ran yesterday Tuesday, February 16, following a manhunt to stop their atrocities in the area launched by the population.

The people of Fundong, Boyo Division in the North West embarked on a journey to free hostages kidnapped and detained by Ambazonia separatist fighters in Abuh village.

More than five hundred people including men, women, youths and children took off from the Fundong grandstand Tuesday, February 16, headed by their Mayor Denis Awoh Ndang and returned by 5:00pm.

In an earlier statement by the Mayor, Sunday February 14, to the population, he said “By kidnapping and later releasing Fon Clement Ndzi II of Kom land, amba boys have proven that they don’t have any respect for any one. We cannot continue to watch small boys with guns dictate how we should live our lives. This is unacceptable.”

To Mayor Denis Awah Ndang, “We have to take our destiny into our hands and stop this nonsense”.

The population of Fundong retired to their houses yesterday with a strong resolution to use all means at their disposal to get back people kidnapped by the separatists and stamp out insecurity in the community.
