Garoua 2e, North Region, Cameroon – The municipality of Garoua 2e now benefits from a newly inaugurated city hall, a modern public facility funded entirely by the Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance (FEICOM). The project, valued at over 480 million CFA francs, reflects ongoing efforts to enhance local governance and public service delivery.

The official inauguration ceremony was presided over by Minister of Decentralisation and Local Development, Georges Elanga Obam. He was joined by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Gabriel Mbaïrobé, along with the general directors of FEICOM and BUNEC, and the Governor of the North Region.

In his address, Minister Elanga Obam emphasized the importance of the project, describing it as a “tangible symbol of the government’s decentralization policy.” He urged local residents to take ownership of the new facility and to maintain it properly so it can sustainably meet the administrative and social needs of the community.

“This project is a tangible symbol of the government’s decentralization policy,” said Minister Elanga Obam. “I call on the local population to take ownership of this infrastructure and ensure its proper upkeep.”

The new city hall is expected to significantly improve the capacity of the Garoua 2e municipality to deliver quality public services. It also underscores FEICOM’s ongoing support for decentralised local authorities committed to sustainable and balanced development.
