It was a chaotic scene at Ancien Route Bonaberi in Douala this Thursday morning, as hundreds of frustrated and desperate residents lined up at a gas station to purchase the product.
Many arrived at the sales point as early as 5:00AM when information circulated that a gas delivery tanker was going to arrive in the morning.
“This is afternoon and we are still waiting,” said a desperate customer who has gone without cooking gas for weeks.
“Cooking and eating have not been easy since this problem started, and we are worried about how long this will last,” the troubled citizen explained.
Thousands of Cameroonians have gone without cooking gas for many days – and this situation has spanned across the country’s major cities like Douala, Yaounde, Bafoussam, and Bamenda.
The commodity is scarce, and prices have soared unbelievably. The Government is yet to take urgent steps to address the problem.
