GBHS Deido Student Dies on Campus, Family Demands Answers

Tensions ran high at Government Bilingual High School (GBHS) Deido, Douala, this Tuesday, November 5, after an 11-year-old student died during school hours.

The Form One student, identified as Dovan, reportedly collapsed during a physical education session, sparking controversy over the exact cause of her death.

According to school authorities, Dovan fell unconscious and died on campus, an incident they attribute to the physical activities involved during the class.

Dovan’s family rejects this explanation, suggesting that other factors may have played a role.

Her mother expressed deep suspicion, observing blood trickling from Dovan’s nose, a detail that raises more questions than answers.

The authorities transferred the young girl’s body to the Deido District Hospital mortuary, but her grieving family refuses to leave the school premises, demanding further explanations from school officials.

Anguished and inconsolable, the family insists that the school must take responsibility for what they describe as an inexplicable and heartbreaking loss.

“We need a clear explanation,” Dovan’s mother told bystanders, still in shock from the news.

“If they can’t give me back my daughter, then they must give me answers.”

The tragedy sparked an outpouring of concern and frustration among students, parents, and school staff alike.

Security forces are expected to investigate the real cause of Duval’s death.
