A student of Summerset college who was recently killed by collapsing electric pole has finally been laid to rest in Bafia, near Muyuka. Ashu Bridget was buried yesterday May 12.

This followed the removal of her corpse which took place earlier yesterday.

Following the corpse removal, her remains were taken to summerset college Buea where she reportedly schooled.

The student was killed by a collapsing high tension electric pole on Sunday May 1, 2022 at checkpoint, Buea.

The young girl reportedly left the house to buy an exercise book when the incident took place.

However, locals of the checkpoint neighborhood in Buea remain engulfed in fear considering presence of another high tension cement pole not far from where the incident took place.

According to sources, locals have tried their best in beckoning the attention of ENEO workers towards the risks they are subjected to, with the presence of the said pole.

” just 200 meters away from where the previous pole killed that child, there is another high tension pole which has cracked and bent, just few meters away from cite Ndurim” an inhabitant of the checkpoint neighborhood decried.

She reiterated that despite the series of complaints presented to ENEO workers, all they get as response is” no fear, the pool no fit fall.”

Locals have however, turned to believe it is a scheme to endanger locals’ lives as the company only waits till someone dies before they act.

” They are waiting for this same pole to fall and kill just like recent ones before they will come to replace it, after taking the victim to the mortuary” the inhabitant added.

It should noted that an estimated average of 30 persons use the stretch every one minute, making locals vulnerable to another incident.
