The government of Cameroon has said six teachers of Presbyterian Nursery and Primary School Tobin – Kumbo in the North West were kidnapped on Tuesday November 3rd 2020.
This is contained in a release signed by the minister of communication Wednesday November 4th 2020.
This contradicts figures of the number of teachers kidnapped as given by the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon.
In a release signed by the moderator of PCC on November 3rd, Rt. Rev. Fonki Samuel Forba stated “…in the process, they carted away a total of eleven teachers and dispersed the children to go home unhurt”. With government stating that just six teachers were kidnapped, the release of the minister gives no details of what has earlier been stated by the moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon.
In the release signed by the minister of communication, Rene Emmanuel Sadi stated that secessionists fighting for the restoration of Ambazonia carried out attacks in schools in Bui,Mezam and Fako divisions on the 3rd and 4th of November 2020.
In Bamenda, Mezam division, Sadi says secessionists invaded the campus of Longla Comprehensive College at about 9:00 am November 3rd. To the government, the shooting by separatists in the campus created panic but normalcy was reinstated by military men on patrol. Government however attests that some students of the school sustained minor injuries as they attempted to run away.
As concerns the attack of Kulu Memorial College at Mile 4 Limbe, government says about ten unidentified armed men got into the college stripping students and teachers naked before setting ablaze some classes and offices.
Government’s spokesman however fails to mention the kidnapped and subsequent release of seven students of government bilingual high school Foundong;Boyo division in the North. Wednesday November 4th, the students were taken by armed men on their way to school. Military men succeeded to secure their release hours after.
Government affirms that defense and security forces in collaboration with the population are in search of perpetrators of the crimes. Rene Emmanuel Sadi restates the condemnation of president Paul Biya.
