It is raining marathon cooking in Nigeria as many chefs appear to be tumbling over each other in a quest to set new records, even before previous ones have been confirmed.
On Monday 12 June 2023, another chef from Ibadan, Oyo state by the name, of Temitope Adebayo announced that he is about to start a 140-hour marathon cooking journey to upturn Hilda Baci’s 100 hours and Chef Dammy’s ongoing 120 hours.

One month ago Nigerian chef Hilda Baci took it upon herself to challenge current Guinness World Records holder, Indian Chef, Lata Tondon on her 87-hour cooking marathon by doing it for 100 hours.
Since then, a lot of chefs have been coming up with the intention of challenging her too with the highest number of cooking hours. Some started and ended halfway, and some, such as Chef Dammy have gone on to beat Hilda’s record as of this morning, when she announced 105 hours and is on track to completing her 120-hour cooking marathon.
Hilda Baci who was still to receive a recognition certificate from the GWR, may now never receive one as her record has already been broken by another Nigerian.
Many are beginning to wonder if there are any Cameroonians inspired enough to embark on such a challenge.
