Gunmen Storm Nkwen, Shoot Police Officer

Armed men have shot a man said to be a 2nd grade inspector of police working with the 4th District Police Station in Nkwen, Bamenda III Subdivision of the North West Region of Cameroon.

Ali was shot in broad daylight at a shop at Way in Nkwen Park, Thursday, September 9, 2021.

Reports say the incident happened when he tried to pin down one of the gunmen who came to rob a provision store around that area.

Talking to Mimi Mefo Info, a trader around the area said, “I saw how he was fighting with the man but I never knew it was a robbery case. The next thing I heard were gun shots. That was when we ran for cover. He was shot by another gunman. The gunmen later left the scene on about three motor bikes. The officer was rushed to the Mbingo Annex Hospital where we later got news that he died as medics tried saving his life,” narrated the eye witness.

Reports also indicate that a huge amount of money was taken from the shop owner after the man was shot.
For some time now, Nkwen has not been at peace as cases of kidnappings for ransom and other security challenges have been the order of the day.

Just some few weeks back, the nephew of former SDF Member of Parliament for Bamemda-Bali was kidnapped by gun men at Ghana Street, few meters away from where the uniform officer was shot.
