The founding President of the Progressive Movement (PM) political party has announced his official resignation from the political party he founded on the 23rd of August 1991 joining the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) party of President Paul Biya.
In a press conference in Douala Thursday 30th April 2020, Hon. Jean Jacques Ekindi says he is joining the CPDM party as a militant. The former member of parliament states he can better contribute his own quota for the development of Cameroon by militating in the ruling party.
For twenty nine years, Jean Jacques Ekindi has been the national coordinator of the Progressive Movement party . He ran for the position of member of parliament for Wouri Centre during the February 2020 twin election and failed. Succeeding to be elected as a councillor at Douala 1 council, Ekindi tried to be elected Mayor of the city of Douala to no avail.
He has equally contested for presidential elections in Cameroon under the Progressive Movement party.
With all these, some political commentators say with several political setbacks as a leaders of an opposition party for twenty nine years have lured the politician to return to his former political party – the CPDM.
Jean Jacques Ekindi had been a militant of the CPDM party from 1985 to 1991 when he created his political party. Returning to the CPDM party today, some critics say he is seeking an appointment from President Paul Biya for personal gains and not the interest of the people.
