Over seventy vehicles with passengers from Bafoussam and other areas in the West region of Cameroon have not been able to enter Bamenda in the North West region of Cameroon since 11:30 PM Saturday June 27th 2020.
Speaking to Mimi Mefo Info on phone Sunday June 28th, a passenger says “We left Bafoussam at 5:00AM but this is 9:00AM and we have not reached Bamenda. After heavy rains, the road is completely bad and inaccessible. Hundreds of passengers are here stranded.”
With no effort at the moment by workers of the delegation of transport to remedy the situation, the passengers are seeking alternative means to reach Bamenda.

According to Simon, one the passengers stranded along the road “Some passengers who don’t have many bags are being transported to Matazem in the North West on motorcycles for the sum of 1500f for a passenger. While there, they will get vehicles to Bamenda. The situation is really unbearable because not every passenger can afford such a double cost”.

Speaking to the chairman of the reconstruction plan of the North West and South West region of Cameroon last week, Paul Achobong, Bamenda city Mayor called for an immediate reconstruction of the road linking Bafoussam and Bamenda. To the mayor, the bad road has rendered life unbearable to the population of the North West region.
