Popular singer, Daphne Njie, has opened up for the first time about her sudden disappearance from the Cameroon music scene for several years now, attributing the absence to family commitments.
In a live video on her Facebook page on Friday, the 33-year-old music sensation also unveiled plans to bounce back with a collabo with Nigerian artist Teni.
Daphne, who birthed a baby in July 2023 months after her wedding, said she took some time to cultivate her marriage and make her home before resuming her music career.
“It just seemed right that I spent some time with my family,” Daphne explained, “take some time to build my family, to build and bond.
“Because you all remember that while I was still active, I was quite, quite active. I was always booked. I was traveling around the world, traveling everywhere so I actually needed to slow down a little to build a family like I said.”
After capturing the hearts of fans in Cameroon and the Central African Region, Daphne became dormant for about four years.
Her hits, including “Calee”, “Justqu’a la Gare”, “Promets Moi”, among others have continued to captivate audiences.
After spending time with family, she intends to pick up the mic again, and will be releasing a song with Nigerian singer Teni this September 27.
