Njeukam Loïc and Mouthe Roland alias Shakiro and Patricia respectively have been reportedly set free from detention, two months after being arrested and jailed for alleged homosexuality.
The information which announced their freedom was revealed by the pairs lawyer and Human Rights activist, Barrister Alice Nkom via her Facebook page.
Since the arrest of Shakiro and Patricia, pressure has been piled on the Cameroonian Government from Diasporan Cameroonians and Cameroonian allies who are Pro LGBTQ.
Popular Social Media Influencer, Lesbian and LGBTQ activist, Kiki Bandi argued the Cameroonian Government was acting strongly against Patricia and Shakiro because they wanted to use it for Political purposes, by gaining support from the population most of whom are anti-LGBTQ.
Many others argued and pressured the state to release the duo who had been handed 5 years sentence each for attempted homosexuality, by saying that it was against Human rights and that they had technically not been caught in any crime.
Barrister Michele Ndoki said Homosexuality is a natural phenomenon which needed no promotion. She said it is a way of life and that it is natural to be different from the others even in terms of sexuality.
