Rising music star, Jato Sonita, recently became the center of an online controversy following rumors of a pregnancy and that she had given birth to a child fathered by her manager, Bayong Emmanuel Che.

The trend left many confused and wondering what would become the fate of the 16-year-old, who is the lead vocalist of the Forest Children band.

As the rumors gained steam, Bayong remained silent, neither confirming nor debunking the allegations.

Numerous phone calls and text messages aimed at reaching him for clarification were unsuccessful.

This has led to speculation that the entire incident was a publicity stunt designed to boost the popularity of the group’s newly released song, “Ndoro.”

While the stunt may have succeeded in generating buzz, Bayong should not overlook the potential long-term consequences.

The Internet is unforgiving, and stories like this tend to linger. Even if Jato eventually retires from music, the articles and rumors about her alleged pregnancy will remain online, potentially tarnishing her reputation.

Bayong also failed to consider that not everyone follows up on such stories.

Many people might still believe the initial rumor without ever reading a correction or clarification.

Given that The Forest Children band includes over 17 members, with nine of them being girls under the age of 12, such stunts could have broader implications.

The parents of these young girls might not appreciate the use of such tactics, especially considering the potential harm to their children’s reputations.

While the stunt might seem like a clever way to promote a new song, it sets a dangerous precedent for the band’s future.

If the group continues to release music, will fans and the public continue to fall for similar tricks?

This publicity stunt was costly, and if not handled carefully, it could have damaging ramifications.

Fans who realize they were misled may feel betrayed, potentially souring their feelings toward Jato and the rest of the band.

Bayong may find it difficult to regain their trust and generate the same level of interest in future releases.

Though Bayong has not explicitly denied or confirmed the rumor about Jato’s pregnancy, he finally broke his silence on Sunday, August 25.

In a lengthy apology posted on his Facebook account, he regretted that he had failed the forest children.

He however refrained from mentioning the ongoing controversy.

“I pray that God protects you all. I don’t even know how to say that this is the end of JATO Sonita and The Forest Children of Africa. I feel so hurt about your futures and the kind of hopes I gave you all,” Bayong wrote.
