Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate yesterday visited Bina Jennifer, a Nigerian woman who courageously voted despite being attacked at Lagos polling station.

The woman was attacked on Saturday, February 25, 2023, while Nigerians converged massively to cast their Presidential votes.

“She is my point of contact with every Nigerian who suffered a similar fate in their bid to exercise their voting rights and contribute to a new Nigeria. Like many Nigerians,” Peter Obi wrote on his Twitter handle noting that he acknowledges her bravery and resoluteness.

According to him, “Jennifer is a true manifestation of Profiles in Courage for a new Nigeria.”

In an interview with BBC, the Nigerian Bina Jennifer narrated how the attack took place.

She said, “I went out like every normal Nigerian that wanted to vote… 30 minutes later I felt a huge impact on my face. Instantly I heard gunshots.”

However, after immediately leaving the hospital, Bina Jennifer was yet determined to cast her vote. A gesture that marveled thousands of people across the globe.

“I’m not a politician, I’m just a Nigerian performing my civic duty,” Bina Jennifer emphasized
