Joel Matip who plays for Liverpool FC in the English Premier League has demanded for time to decided on whether or not to return to Cameroon’s national team ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Indomitable Lions Head Coach, Rigobert Song, revealed Matip’s request in a recent interview granted FECAFOOT Corner Magazine.
Song is quoted as having said: “Concerning Joel Matip, our wish is to see him wear the Cameroon jersey again. But, you know, the decision is the player’s to make. He has asked me to give him time to make a decision. I’m still waiting but we must know that I haven’t got all the time. At a certain moment, I’ll have to take decisions because I’m in an emergency situation”
It should be noted that the Indomitable Lions are also preparing to kickstart their campaign for a sport at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, to take place in Cote D’Ivoire brazing up for the qualification match next month, against the upcoming African Cup of Nations to take place in Ivory Coast.
