A woman, her daughter and her grandchild have spent 48-hours in detention in Kribi, after supposedly standing up against an influential neighbor believed to have encroached into her piece of land.
The lady, whose name we got as Edjecka, had gone out on her plot in Londji, some 10km away from the Seaside town of Kribi with her daughter and grandchild to farm.
On arrival, she discovered a serious encroachment by her neighbor, who had built her fence which extended right inside her own plot, destroying her crops in the process.
Incensed by that, she confronted the workers on the site about what she had seen. In the heat of the arguments, the owner of the neighbouring plot, Madam Ottou showed up at the scene.
A phone call was made and some police officers arrived the scene and took the woman and her children along to the Londji police station. They were only released after Edjecka’s husband paid for her bail of around 230,000FCFA.
