37-year-old Kitou Adamou gave up the ghost moments after entering a local cafeteria in Kribi yesterday afternoon not too far away from Grand Marché Nkolbiteng.
According to the owner of the cafeteria restaurant, he was preparing the customer’s order when the customer suddenly collapsed. Adamou had ordered a plate of mashed avocado and bread.
Moments after his collapse, the firefighting brigade arrived at the cafeteria with a medical doctor who examined him and confirmed him dead.
As a Muslim by faith, his relatives requested his body for immediate burial according to Muslim tradition. The medical team, however, was reluctant and insisted on carrying out an autopsy to determine the cause of his death.
After heated exchanges with the family, the body was finally given to the family for burial. The cause of his death will therefore never be determined.
Was he poisoned? Was it a cardiac arrest? None of these would be answered anytime soon. The owner of the cafeteria meanwhile is under no investigation, but his restaurant has been temporarily shut down.
