Sources in Kumbo, North West region say three health workers have bee kidnapped by armed gunmen
The incident happened at the St Elizabeth Catholic General Hospital/Cardiac Center, Shisong after intense gunshots were recorded yesterday evening.
Shortly after the gunshots at about 9:00PM, the armed gunmen stormed the hospital premise and got away with the nurses.
While the group responsible for the act is yet to be known, sources at the health facility point fingers at separatist fighters.
The staff who were on night duty, one says, were kidnapped “for allegedly allowing a fighter who was poisoned … to die”.
Hospital and administrative authorities are however yet to make any official statement over the incident.
