SDF Chairman, John Fru Ndi has expressed bitterness over exactions carried out by military and separatist fighters in the volatile North West and South West regions of Cameroon. He poured out his frustrations Thursday June 13, 2019, during a cordial chat with Chamberlain Ntou’o Ndong, Meme Senior Divisional Officer.
Far from the stormy meeting with administrative and security officers in Limbe which led to a failed trip to SONARA, Fru Ndi was warmly received in Kumba by the SDO for Meme Division, Chamberlain Ntou’o Ndong.
He told the administrator that, the people have suffered enough and there is need to find a durable solution to the crisis.
The vocal SDF chairman did not hesitate to denounce rights violations by security forces and further condemned separatists for suffering the people they claim they are fighting for.
He however expressed his desire to spread the message of restrain to the belligerent camps on his way to Bamenda. The charismatic SDF leader said he was ready to embrace soldiers and amba boys if they walked up to him.
After the cordial exchanges, John Fru Ndi proceeded to the Kumba District hospital which was ‘mysteriously’ gutted by fire on February 10, 2019.
He regretted that unforeseen events like the death of Hon Banadzem and health challenges barred him from coming earlier. While condemning the incident, he wondered why the hospital could be set on fire when military presence is dense around the health facility.
“I lack words to describe what I have seen because, they go beyond human touch. I mean, it is painful that human beings can come to destroy the hospital whether they are Ambas or soldiers, all of them come to the hospital and when you go again to destroy where you go to when you are sick, this is wickedness of the last degree, ” the SDF leader told reporters.
John Fru Ndi however praised the Director of the hospital and staff for staying strong despite the prevailing insecurity.
