The Cameroon women’s national football team, also known as the Indomitable Lionesses, held their first training session of the day at the Mbappe Leppe Stadium in Douala on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. The only player missing from the squad was Michaela Abam, who is expected to join the team later in the day.

The Lionesses are preparing for their upcoming African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualification match against Kenya on September 22 at the Reunification Stadium in Douala. Cameroon is the defending AWCON champion and is looking to qualify for the 2024 tournament in Morocco.

Head coach Jean Baptiste Bisseck emphasised ball control, passing, and finishing during the training session. The players also played a mini-game against each other to simulate match conditions.

Bisseck was pleased with the team’s performance in the training session. “The players are in good spirits and are working hard,” he said. “We are focusing on getting the team ready for the match against Kenya. We know it will be a tough match, but we are confident that we can win.”

The Indomitable Lionesses are one of the strongest women’s football teams in Africa. The Lionesses are expected to be favorites against Kenya in the AWCON qualifier. However, Bisseck has warned his players against taking their opponents lightly. “Kenya is a good team,” he said. “They are well-organized and have some talented players. We will need to be at our best to beat them.”

The Indomitable Lionesses are scheduled to have another training session on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. The team will then hold a press conference on Thursday, September 21, 2023, ahead of the match against Kenya.
