The Lamido of Maroua, El Hadj Bakary Yerima Bouba has died.
He died on the night of Monday, July 17, in Yaoundé, Centre region of Cameroon following an illness.
According to the state media, El Hadj Bakary Yerima Bouba played a role decisive in the fight against insecurity and agro-pastoral conflicts in the Far North region.
He was appointed regional councilor in 2020 and has since then been involved in the promotion of culture.
His body will be expected to arrive in Maroua today Tuesday, July 18 at 1 p.m.
Lamido El Hadj Bakary died aged 65.
A Lamido’s role is both political and spiritual. The lamido is also responsible for ruling the clearly defined territory.
