Professor Maurice Kamto of the Cameroonian Renaissance Movement (CRM) has declared himself winner of the October 7 presidential election in Cameroon.

He was speaking a day after the election which saw the participation of 9 candidates.

“I received a clear mandate from the Cameroonian people, which I intend to defend to the end,” Kamto declared minutes ago at the CRM head office in Odza, Yaounde.

The CRM presidential candidate called on the Head of State to peacefully hand over power and urged the military to play their role as law enforcement agents.
Professor Kamto said he will grant immunity to the incumbent Paul Biya if he hands over power.

He concludes with a message to the people of the SW/NW regions:

“I am coming soon to reconcile our nation as a family…”

Elections results are not yet proclaimed, but the Constitional Council has to do so within fifteen days after the close of the poll. They have to adopt and proclaim the results.

The Minister of territorial administration, Paul ATANGA NJI  has maintained that only the constitutional council has the competence to proclaim election results.

A similar message was articulated Monday by Communication Minister and government spokesperson Issa Tchiroma Bakary.
