Kylian Mbappé is seeking €55 million (over FCFA 36.1 billion) from his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), according to the French newspaper Le Monde. The sum reportedly includes a signing bonus promised when he joined the club in 2017, his wages for the last three months, and an additional “ethical bonus.”
The 2018 World Cup winner initially brought the matter before the legal committee of the Clubs’ Association in early August. In mid-August, he also escalated the issue to UEFA via the French Football Federation.
PSG, owned by Qatari interests, argues that the payment was not made because both parties reached an agreement. The club claims that Mbappé agreed to forgo the money if he left on a free transfer. The dispute has been ongoing for nearly a year, following Mbappé’s decision last year not to activate the 2025 contract extension option.
Mbappé’s representatives are now awaiting decisions from the relevant authorities.
The 25-year-old striker left PSG in May and subsequently signed with Real Madrid. He scored on his debut for the Spanish club on August 14.
