The North West Regional President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), who doubles as Mayor of Bamenda I, has been appointed to replace Henry Njalla Quan Jr. as the Fourth Vice-President of the Federation.
Mbigha Felix was appointed during the Ordinary Executive Committee Meeting of FECAFOOT held in Garoua on September 11.
He replaces Njalla following the latter’s resignation from the Federation in July. Mbigha, who was previously a floor member of the FECAFOOT Executive Committee, became the only Anglophone in the 18-member committee following Njalla Quan’s resignation.
Njalla Quan Jr. officially announced his resignation in a letter signed on July 4, 2023.
“Following your decision to suspend me from the executive committee of FECAFOOT, which in itself was full of many flaws, and understanding fully well how the ‘machine’ has been programmed to run against me, I hereby inform you of my Immediate resignation as 4th ‘Vice President…’,” Njalla Quan stated in his resignation letter.
FECAFOOT suspended him a week earlier for “criticising” the president of the Federation, Samuel Eto’o Fils.
His resignation came a few hours after he suspended the activities of his football club, Njalla Quan Sports Academy.
Other Appointments Made
Messrs. Youssoufa, Bouadeu Augustin, and Essa Pius Tabi were instituted into the executive body of the Federation following the death of the Second Vice President, Boubakary Bello, on February 27, 2023, and the resignation of Feutcheu Joseph on June 10, 2023.
The resolutions did not outline the various positions attributed to each of these appointed officials.
FECAFOOT also reinstated the suspension of Guibai Gatama, a FECAFOOT exco member and president of Mokola FC in the Far North, who was first slammed with a two-year suspension on August 22, 2023.
