Minister Louis Paul Motaze Takes Leadership of BDEAC

Louis Paul Motaze, the Minister of Finance, has been appointed president of the Board of Directors and president of the General Assembly of BDEAC, the Development Bank of Central African States.

They appointed him on January 3 based on a rotational principle that governs the institutions of CEMAC.

The Minister of Finance takes over from Tahir Hamid Ngulin, the Chadian Minister of State, Finance, and Budget.

After his designation, Minister Louis Paul Motaze presided over an extraordinary session of the General Assembly of BDEAC, held the same day in Paris.

As President of the Board of Directors and the General Assembly of BDEAC, Louis Paul Motaze will chair and lead meetings and implement strategic policies.

He will also strengthen financial stability, promote regional economic integration, enhance governance and transparency, and respond to development challenges.

The BDEAC is an organisation that promotes regional and economic integration within the CEMAC region.

CEMAC member states created it on December 3, 1975.

It has its headquarters in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.

Its primary mission is to finance development projects that enhance economic integration and foster sustainable development in Central Africa.

It provides funding for infrastructure, energy, agriculture, health, and other sectors critical to the region’s growth.

The appointment of Louis Paul Motaze reinforces Cameroon’s influence within regional financial institutions.

It equally holds significant importance for Cameroon in enhancing its regional influence, economic strategies, and financial integration efforts.

Louis Paul Motaze is an experienced civil servant in Cameroon who has held several positions in government.

He has been the country’s Minister of Economy and once served as secretary general at the Prime Minister’s Office.
