It has emerged that one of senior officials of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement , MRC in Gabon, Mitterrand Serge Kemmogne is in detention in a highly secured prison in Gabon’s capital Libreville.
For now however, the reason for his detention by the Gabonese authorities are still largely unknown.
News of his detention was made public by Cameroonian journalist, Boris Bertolt as quoted “It is two days already that the secretary general of the federation department of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement in Gabon has been detained by the counter-interference service of the B2 Military Brigade in Libreville. No other information on the reason for his detention has been given to date. Except the fact made clear that he is a political detainee and only his wife given the right to see him in detention” wrote the journalist on his facebook page.
Mutations Newspaper adds that no current board member of the MRC party particularly knows which conditions their party member is under in the hands of the Gabonese authorities, but however says his wife says he is doing well.
The paper also indicates that law firms which have been contacted to deal with Serge Mitterrand’s case are particularly very cautious on their dealings given the fact that the B2 Military Brigade only receives injunctions from the Gabonese presidency. Though not confirmed, sources indicate that Mr. Kemmogne is implicated in a case of forgery and aggravated fraud.
