The SDF party in the North West region has said the National Dialogue should be chaired by a neutral party and should be ready to adopt a two state federation. This was one of it’s requests made in prelude to the major national dialogue to begin September 30, 2019.
Apart from requesting that the root cause of the Anglophone crisis be discussed, the party also said, the form of state should be discussed with Anglophones taking center stage in the process.
In a notice signed by SDF North West Chairperson, Njong Donatus who doubles as Mayor of Kumbo, the party adds that “the military should not be part of a national inclusive dialogue; which is essentially political”.
The definition of the dialogue the party says is lacking as well as a consensual timing and sequencing.
“We must make sure that the major stakeholders are part of the preparatory phase, the process phases as well as the implementation phase in order to nurture the outcome” the notice read.
The SDF party as a whole it should be recalled, had always clamoured for a four state federation but had been ignored after demanding that authorities convene a national discourse years back.
The party hierarchy has questioned the inclusive nature of the dialogue called by President Paul Biya.
Federalism as requested by SDF and secession, demanded by pro independence fighters are not on the agenda of the national dialogue.
