Following the fatal accident on Sunday, the inter-urban transport agency has announced that all its activities will be effectively grounded on December 30, 2020, in order to mourn the passing away of approximately 39 passengers in the accident of December 27.

The decision of grounding activities by the agency is contained in a press release signed by the CEO of Avenir Voyages, El Hadj Yagouba Aliou.

In the press release, the CEO also extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased as well as wishing for a speedy recovery to all who sustained major injuries at the time of the accident.

The accident in question occurred at the very early hours of December 27, at about 2am, when one of the Avenir Voyages buses, which left Koutaba in the West region for Yaoundé in the Center Region, collided with a heavy truck at a place called “Pont Nomale” in Ndikiminiki.

The accident culminated in an immediate death toll of over 37 passengers and over a dozen others seriously injured. While the corpses have been transported to the Yaoundé Central Hospital Mortuary, injured passengers are being taken care of at health districts in Koutaba and Bafia.
