Buea farmer Ndim Jacob Ngong, who was disqualified from the 2025 presidential race, is once again demonstrating his belief that agriculture is the backbone of Cameroon’s economy.
While campaigning for the presidency, Ndim consistently argued that agriculture held the key to revamping the country’s struggling economy. Now, he has showcased tubers of yam harvested from his farm as proof of that conviction.
“I am just selling them,” he told MMI on Monday.
Ndim, who struggled to contest as an independent candidate, says he plans to create a political party in the days ahead.
Ndim’s Role in 2025 Election
Despite being unable to secure a candidacy, Ndim has thrown his support behind the youngest presidential candidate, Hiram Samuel Iyodi.
“I am in talks with Hiram to see how we can get his party coordination in Buea,” he explained.
He added that he is currently in Douala to continue discussions, after already meeting Hiram on two separate occasions.
Looking beyond the 2025 polls, Ndim is targeting the upcoming municipal and presidential elections.
He maintains that agriculture will provide the financial foundation he needs to contest again, reaffirming his strong belief in farming as both a livelihood and a political statement.
