Ndim Jacob, a 35-year-old farmer and part-time teacher based in Buea, has pushed forth with his presidential bid. He has also taken the bold step of submitting his candidacy with Elections Cameroon, including a 30 million CFA franc fee.

He handed his candidacy file to Nzofoa Njoya Sake, the ELECAM Regional Delegate for the South West, in Buea on July 21, joining more than 35 other aspirants for Cameroon’s 2025 presidential race.

Ndim arrived at the premises about 10:30 am, dressed in white, looking sharp and confident.

Shortly after completing the submission, Ndim said he was very determined to “rescue Cameroon”.

“This country has decayed,” he said. “For 43 years, the country has not grown further, and that is why I am here to take action.”

Ndim Jacob’s submission was tense. While filing the documents, he briefly left the premise and the media was told that he had forgotten his national identification card.

Shortly after, he came back and continued.

The deadline for submission of files is July 21. After that, candidates will be scrutinised and selected if they meet the eligibility criteria.

At least 38 aspirants have submitted candidacy files, including incumbent President Paul Biya. Biya is seeking his eighth term at the age of 92. Biya, who has been president since 1982, scheduled the election for October 12, 2025, in a decree published last week
