Government remains helpless in the face of aggrieved teachers, four weeks into their strike action. Today, syndicate leaders met with the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Gregoire Owona but maintained that they will teach only when their demands are met. The resistance is despite government’s planned disbursement of 2.7 billion FCFA and other measures from President Paul Biya to settle unpaid allowances, advancements and salaries.

The Akwa Dynasty in Douala has a new ruler in the person of King Louis Din Dicka. The new ruler who is also a medical doctor was enthroned today. He takes over from his father, King Din Dicka Akwa III who died on December 8, 2020.
Residents of the North West Region say power cuts have become more persistent over the last weeks following the end of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament. While some parts of the region have gone for months without power, those that have say the cuts are too frequent. Business persons have been dealt the hardest blow with some store owners unable to stock perishable products in their refrigerators.
The traditional ruler of Baba I in the North West Region, Fon Fuekemshi II has supported Cameroon cup winners, PWD of Bamenda with the sum of 1.2 million FCFA. This was at a gathering in Yaounde where the team presented their trophy to the ruler. The trophy will be presented to the population of Bamenda in the days ahead.
