North West House of Chiefs member, traditional ruler of Baba 1 goes ‘missing’

Death has again snatched another member of the North West House of Chiefs.

Fon Fuekemshi II of Baba I in Ngoketunja Division, in Cameroon’s North West Region, reportedly ‘disappeared’ on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

Fon Fuekemshi II who is the Committee chair of Finance of the House of Chiefs, is the the fourth member to have journeyed home.

He ruled Baba 1 since 1989, until Tuesday May 2nd when ancestors came knocking.

Other members of the house who died since the house was inaugurated include, Fon Onko Moses of Nser in Menchum division, Fon Nfor Ibrahim Jabfu of Nkambe in Donga Mantung and Fon Fru Angwafor III of Mankon in Mezam Division.

*In Cameroon, especially in the grass field tradition, Fons (traditional rulers) do not ‘die’. They go ‘missing. So when they are no more, they are described as having disappeared or gone missing.
