North West Region: Activities of the Public Independent Conciliator to be officially launched today

About eight months after the creation of the office of the Public Independent Conciliator for the North West and South West Region, the official for the North West region, Simon Tamfu Fai officially launches the activities of the institution today.

The activities will be launched in the regional capital, Bamenda.

The June 10 presidential decree specifies that the office is to resolve disputes between councils and their workers about service delivery.

The Public Independent Conciliator, Simon Fai Tamfu has pointed that other parties must have exhausted other peaceful channels of conflict resolution before tabling the disagreement to his office. He explained that it is not going to be an individual exercise.

Conflicting parties must always, first of all, accept the results that will be given, prior to the settlement.

The office of the Public Independent Conciliator remains largely unwelcomed by many Anglophones who believe like the entire special status, it fails to address the key grievances that sparked the armed conflict.
