The vice president of the National Confederation of Cameroon Trade Unions, Lawrence Ndi Ngong has stated that the economy of the North West region is in dire need of recovery efforts following years of destruction due to the current socio-political crisis the region has been witnessing for four years now.
His views have been reinforced by some business persons in Bamenda who point to frequent road blocks and a generally insecure business environment as major challenges.
Lawrence Ndi Ngong called on the government to effectively implement the scheme which classifies the North West, South West and Far North regions as economically disaster zones.
“The 30% discount that was granted to the Far North, North West and South West regions should be implemented. If you go down the street and ask from the population, you will discover that it has rather increased. So we are calling on the government to effectively implement this”, Lawrence Ndi Ngong said.
The Confederation of Cameroon Trade Unions (CCTU/CSTC) is the mother trade union in Cameroon that is affiliated with the International Trade Union Confederation and the Organization of African Trade Union Unity.
