Nso Queen Mother of Europe continues newborn baby visit

The Yaa [Nso Queen Mother] of Europe, Victorine Ngamsha on Thursday May 2nd visited another new born baby in the UK; baby Asheri Ivanna-Ken.

Flanked by a colourful entourage, dressed in traditional attires and bearing gifts for the newborn, Yaa displayed and sang through the streets of West Bromwich, United Kingdom to the home of baby Asheri.

Few weeks ago, Yaa embarked on her maiden newborn baby visit in Birmingham, where she met baby Glorianna-Kim Fehngoin Newuh and her family.

According to the Queen Mother, celebrating life should be more important than the current trend which focuses on the celebration of death.

“Every baby is a new beginning, and must be celebrated in grand style, not just within the Nso culture but everywhere. I have made it as a duty to honour all the newborn babies,” explained Yaa.

This mission by Yaa signifies a balancing of the equilibrium between the two extremes of human existence — which are life and death.

In her own words: “many Cameroonians and Africans pay significant attention to the celebration of deaths at the detriment of births. For instance, in some African cultures, deaths can be celebrated for weeks, and even months, whereas births are barely acknowledge.”

“We have to change our mentality. Instead of contributing millions for a funeral, use that money to invest in a new born baby, and secure their future,” maintained Yaa.

Yaa’s two visits marked by lullabies that she sings to the babies, have confirmed the importance of birth celebration within African cultures.

Yaa Victorine Ngamsha also known as Lady Bling is also a celebrated musician based in the UK with over a dozen album to her name. She is also a philanthropist and a motivational speaker.
