Olembe Football Stadium: Magil construction Vice President arrested in Ukraine

With the deadline set for the completion and delivery of the Olembe Football Stadium fast approaching, news has now emerged that the General Overseer of construction works at the building site of the Olembe Football Stadium, Mr. Frank Mathiere has been arrested in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.

The French International and Vice President of the Canadian Construction Company, Magil construction was reportedly taken into custody by Interpol on October 24, 2021 upon his arrival at the Kiev airport.

The arrest of the Frenchman was made on the request of the Nigerian authorities as he is said to be linked to a money laundering case in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Before moving to Cameroon to oversee the construction of the Olembe Football Stadium, Mr. Frank Mathiere lived in Nigeria and is suspected in a case of money laundering of over $2.1 Million between October 2016 and November 2017, a loss that has plunged the Eko Hotels Group into serious financial troubles.

A request for the extradition of Mr Frank Mathiere has already been sent to the Ukrainian authorities. However it is also reported that there are no plans of sending him back to Abuja.
