Inhabitants of Kejom Ketingu otherwise known as small Babanki in the North West Region, are still reeling from an attack which they suffered at the hands of Cameroon’s defence forces.

The attack, they say, left one person dead and several others taken by the forces to unknown locations.

The attack happened as some villagers of Small Babanki had gathered customarily for their “Njangi” group meeting.

Our informant tells us the soldiers had an almost perfect timing as they stormed in when contributions had all been made and handed over to the Beneficiary of that day.

“The soldiers surrounded the house and surrendered us. They then took the person who had recieved the contributions along with four other people to a place popularly known as Door Market” says the informant, adding that “When they got there, they killed one of these persons”.

The other three individuals arrested at the group gathering have been taken to an unknown location.

The reason for which the soldiers reportedly stormed the meeting has not been revealed yet.

Some locals however say the believe it was simply a scheme orchestrated by the soldiers to defraud them off their savings.
