André Luther Meka, a popular CPDM politician has backtracked on the statement he made on Equinoxe TV, in which he nonchalantly asked protesting teachers not to be paid.
He has made a Facebook post apologizing for his statement on Equinoxe TV, on the Sunday debate program, Droit de Reponse. His apology comes following the death of Mr. Hamidou, a teacher whose image had gone viral after he claimed he was being owed 10 years of salary by the state.
He noted in his post that, “all workers deserve a salary,” also adding that the president was already seeing that the teachers’ demands are met with the disbursement of 2.7 billion for that cause.
André Luther Meka is not new to controversy, and his statements have been known to cause stirs in his TV appearances.
On the same TV platform, at the time little Enondiale Carolaise was killed by a military man in Buea, South West Region, he is said to have blamed it on the mother of the child.
He said the soldier who shot the girl did so within his duty to maintain security.
