The President of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe has shared his optimism once again at the prospect of seeing an African team winning the FIFA world cup on day.
The CAF president was speaking in Abidjan, in Ivory Coast at the opening session of the CAF General assembly. He opined that the time for an African country to top the football world is not very far off. “Our objective for an African country to win the World Cup is very attainable.” He told the press.
“We are very proud of the historic results of the Atlas Lions of Morocco at the 2022 Qatar world cup as well as the top performances put in by Cameroon, Ghana and Senegal in Qatar.” He praised.
According to the CAF president, the qualification of Morocco to the World Cup semi-finals proves that the quality of football in Africa has greatly improved, which could serve as blueprint for further success.
The CAF President’s opinions may well be boosted by the fact that Africa henceforth will be represented by at least 9 teams instead of 5 at the FIFA world cup.
