The first case of cholera has been confirmed at the Kribi Main Prison in the South region.
Confirmed on Sunday, the victim is a 31-year-old from the Mboamanga neighborhood.
Reports say he was admitted overnight under the supervision of Doctors Without Borders as he was extremely tired and had severe diarrhea and vomiting.
Tests carried out by health personnel would later confirm the presence of cholera.
The detention facility has since witnessed a scare especially among inmates following news that some have shown similar symptoms.
