Cameroon’s President, Paul Biya, has congratulated President-elect, Donald J. Trump, for securing a second mandate as President of the United States of America.
Donald Trump beat Kamala Harris in both the popular vote and the electoral college vote to be reelected as the 47th president of the United States.
Several world leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Stammer, were among the first to congratulate Trump.
President Paul Biya, who has ruled alongside seven US Presidents, penned his congratulations in a letter on Wednesday, November 6, coinciding with his 42nd anniversary in power.
“I have the immense pleasure of addressing my warmest congratulations on the occasion of your brilliant re-election as President of the United States of America,” President Biya wrote.
He highlighted the trust the American people have placed in Trump’s leadership, particularly in guiding the nation through uncertain international contexts.
“The American people have decided, under the circumstances, to once again place their trust in your leadership and your capacity to guide them towards paths of progress during an uncertain international period,” he affirmed.
In his letter, Paul Biya also emphasized the potential for strengthened ties between America and Cameroon.
“I have no doubt that, as in the past, we will seize this remarkable opportunity to work together towards reinforcing the long-standing relations between Cameroon and the United States of America,” he stated.
President Biya expressed hope for continued success in leadership.
“Wishing you great success in this new term at the presidency of your country, please accept, Mr. President-elect, the assurances of my highest consideration and my sincere friendship.”
Paul Biya is only the third Africa leader to extend his congratulations to Donald Trump since announced as the winner of the US Presidential elections.
