Good Morning to MMI Team.
I come to you this morning with tears in my eyes. I am wife of a teacher who died last year.
Before my late husband died, he did not receive any salary for the 3+ years he worked as a teacher, because his salary never came out for those 3 years.
The usual response he got was that they were waiting for authentication of his disploma which till date has never arrived.
My Husband, Mbuh Elvis was recruited in 2018 when the recruitment of the 1000 Anglophone teachers was launched.
When he arrived at the Ministry of Basic Education he discovered that he had since 2013 been recruited when the 25 thousand recruitment into the public service was launched.
He was in Bamenda and for all those years, he was never informed neither by email, text nor call. They claimed he was avoiding work, he apologised and instead preferred to sign his contract on the 18 of May 2018 and started duty on the 25th of the same month.
One year after working without a matricule (implying no salary), he came to yaounde to complain and was told it was delayed because he had being registered twice in the government’s system.
At this point, he decided to let go of the 2013 previous recruitment and embraced that of 2018 because he already began work.
One year later he traveled to the ministry in Yaounde from Bamenda again and was told they are waiting for authentication.
At this point others who signed with him had begun receiving their salaries. He, however, resumed work and one year later, nothing.
Three years no salary and no matricule and the same complaint.
After spending so much money without results, he went again to the ministry after being rudely sent away he met the minister by chance and cried to him.The minister did some inquiries, only to discover that several documents in that category had been abandoned, and promised solutions, but nothing was done.
A group of teachers facing the same ordeal even met with the minister who pleaded with them not to take it online and gave them money for transport till date nothing happened.
During the census of last year he came visiting in yaounde and before it was his turn he died, due to ill health.
His principal went ahead to present his documents and was asked to prove his demise. I then sent the death certificate. I have been to the Ministry and was told nothing can be done unless the matricule comes out.
My worry is, when will it be out? I was asked to get a court judgement while waiting but that is expensive for me. I am hoping you can help me amplify my voice so that my late husband can get paid for the years he worked.
I need help!
