Pan Africanist and anti-corruption crusader, Prof PLO Lumumba has called on Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni to free detained opposition leader, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
“Dear President Y.K.Museveni,
Africans of goodwill humbly beseech you to allow Robert Kyagulanyi ( Bobi Wine ) to enjoy freedom now that the elections are over,” Prof. PLO Lumumba wrote.
The call comes after Bobi Wine was placed under house arrest for contesting results of the country’s just-ended polls.
Bobi Wine hours ago released an image of his house, noting that he and his wife were being held under arrest with a child and were running out of supplies.
76-year-old Museveni who has been in power for over three decades was declared the winner of Uganda’s presidential election with almost 59% of the votes.
The opposition and observers have questioned the process, noting that it was marked by irregularities.
