Security officers have begun a manhunt for a suspect who stabbed dead a police officer during a scuffle in the town of Logone Birni in the Far North Region of Cameroon on Friday, July 18.
The victim, Second Grade Inspector of Police (IP2) Nganmo Djidda, was fatally stabbed around 6:00 pm while attempting to apprehend a suspect in central Logone Birni, located in the Logone and Chari Division.
According to eyewitnesses and local sources, the officer was attacked with a knife by the individual he was trying to arrest. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
The assailant fled the scene and remains at large as of Monday morning. Security forces have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspect.
Authorities rushed to the scene shortly after the incident, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances and motive behind the attack.
The body of the slain officer has been transferred to the mortuary of the Kousseri Regional Hospital Annex, pending further procedures and an official statement from the police hierarchy.
