A young man has been rescued from mob justice in Limbe, Fako Division, in Cameroon’s South West Region.
An older man whose wife the young man killed recognised him, according to a witness from the scene in Limbe.
The alleged killer, who was residing in Muyuka, where the lady was killed, is said to be a Separatist Fighter.
“He was spotted and identified as a former Amba fighter from Muyuka who escaped to Limbe after committing atrocities in the area,” the witness, who refused to be named, told MMI.
Our eyewitness added that “One father whose wife the boy killed in Muyuka identified the boy.”
Neither the suspect nor the alleged victim (a female) have been named. According to the accounts, the young man abandoned the separatist movement and went into “hiding” in Limbe.
On Thursday, August 17, 2023, he met with this old man, who quickly identified the face as the killer of his wife.
According to eyewitness testimony, “After meeting the old man, he tried to flee before the old man raised an alarm and curious onlookers captured him.”
The swift response of law enforcement officers saved him from the mob. He is currently in police detention pending the outcome of their inquiries.
