The national vice president of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) has announced that the funeral of late SDF Chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi will take place from July 27, to July 29, 2023.
The ceremony will begin at the Yaoundé multipurpose sport complex with an ecumenical service. The corpse thereafter will be transported to his Soa Residence before moving to Ntarikon, in Bamenda, North West Region and subsequently to Baba 2, his native village where it will be laid to rest.
Joshua Osih has pointed out that the SDF is taking the preparation of the funeral of the late chairman very seriously as it is a very important moment in the History of the party.
“We have created a number of committees to take charge of the burial preparations of the late president. The electoral congress has also been postponed as it is impossible to prepare a ceremony of this magnitude at the same time carrying out party activities.” Joshua Osih told the CRTV.
“We have also suspended all party projects not linked to the obituary of the chairman until the 29th of July 2023 after his burial.” the vice president declared.
The SDF Electoral Congress has been postponed to October 2023, as aspirants hope to succeed the chairman. The successor will become the second leader of the party since its creation in 1990.
The position was left vacant after the demise of Chairman Ni John Fru Ndi on June 12, 2023 in Yaoundé.
