Pope’s envoy arrives Cameroon

His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State to the Pope is in Cameroon for his maiden working visit.

The Vatican official was received at the Nsimalen International Airport yesterday by the country’s Prime Minister, Dion Ngute Joseph.

While he is expected to place the Pallium on the Bamenda Archbishop on Sunday, many believe there is more to his visit.

Listed on his agenda are several meetings including with long-serving Head of State, President Paul Biya and dinner with top level officials.

Many believe the theme of his meeting with President Paul Biya who too is noted to be a fervent Roman Catholic Christian, centers around the ongoing armed conflict in the country’s minority English speaking regions.

Many are expecting the official to use his influence to advocate for an end to the four-year long war that has left thousands dead.

Despite the appeals, fine details of the weeklong visit remain watertight with many only hoping for the best.
